New edition of The Contender scheduled 330-PG and 330-SG. This new edition has new page numbers; however, the book is scheduled by chapters and so only the notes are affected. Book defects, backorders, edition changes, etc.:
- Walk Two Moons - the publisher has released a new edition which we are now carrying. This new edition has different page numbers. The updated schedule has been added to the Curriculum Updates page. (8.8.17)
Our Century in Pictures is out-of-print. It was replaced with National Geographic Eyewitness to the 20th Century, but that book also went out-of-print shortly after we started carrying it. Per Pavica, we will not be replacing it for this school year or the '15-'16 school year. We may find another book in the fall of 2015 to add in for 2016. For now, only the Visual History book is included. -KC 12/16/14.
Events & Trends, understanding the big picture
There is a "Prime Events and Trends" in the notes for The Visual History of the Modern World in the History Study Guide section of your Instructor's Guide. That will give you a point of reference for the decade summaries.
In regards to seeing the big picture, it is a little more challenging at the beginning of the year to understand how events connected. What you might do is have your daughter set up a chart or spreadsheet showing trends or significant events across the decades in various themes: political, science, entertainment, etc. For example, the invention of radio led to television which changed how people spent their leisure time. You might also get some good input from other families who are using Core 300 this year on our Upper Level Cores forum at: https://www.sonlight-forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=79.

There are a number of pages for this title not scheduled in our guide. This is intentional, as the book is used to line up roughly with the timeline in the guide, so pages that do not line up with the timeline of Core 300 are not scheduled.
