2012 Core 300 IG Errors:

Book defects, backorders, edition changes, etc.:

  • The Road From Home - Week 2, Day 5 schedules chapters 10-11. It should schedule chapters 10-12. (9.28.12)
  • God Spoke Tibetan - the reading assignments do not match up with the questions found in the notes. Day 2 the student reads chapters 3-4, but the questions are for chapters 3-5. On Day 3 the student reads chapters 5-7, but the questions are for chapters 6-8. This will be corrected for next year. (9.28.12)
  • Visual History of the Modern World - there is a new edition being released by the publisher but we are *NOT* carrying it. Our vendor did a print run for us so we have stock of the current edition. (9.19.12)
  • How to Ruin Your Life by 40 - Beginning May 2012 we will sell a new edition of this title. Author has completely re-written the book and re-titled it How to Ruin Your Life by 30. An updated schedule is available on the Curriculum Updates page. (5.7.12)

Events & Trends, understanding the big picture

There is a "Prime Events and Trends" in the notes for The Visual History of the Modern World in the History Study Guide section of your Instructor's Guide. That will give you a point of reference for the decade summaries.

In regards to seeing the big picture, it is a little more challenging at the beginning of the year to understand how events connected. What you might do is have your daughter set up a chart or spreadsheet showing trends or significant events across the decades in various themes: political, science, entertainment, etc. For example, the invention of radio led to television which changed how people spent their leisure time. You might also get some good input from other families who are using Core 300 this year on our Upper Level Cores forum at: https://www.sonlight-forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=79.

Labor's Untold Story 07.13.10

There are a number of pages for this title not scheduled in our guide. This is intentional, as the book is used to line up roughly with the timeline in the guide, so pages that do not line up with the timeline of Core 300 are not scheduled.
