Location of Creative Writing Assignments 4.13.09
In Core 300 creative writing assignments are located in the weekly notes section, behind each week's schedule page. There will no longer be a LA Study Guide in this Core IG.
Literary analysis is subjective. There are no right or wrong answers. The main thing to be looking for is whether or not your daughter can defend her response. The notes for Week 7 in your Instructor's Guide include a sample paper with extensive notes showing what to look for in a response paper.
Events & Trends, understanding the big picture
There is a "Prime Events and Trends" in the notes for The Visual History of the Modern World in the History Study Guide section of your Instructor's Guide. That will give you a point of reference for the decade summaries.
In regards to seeing the big picture, it is a little more challenging at the beginning of the year to understand how events connected. What you might do is have your daughter set up a chart or spreadsheet showing trends or significant events across the decades in various themes: political, science, entertainment, etc. For example, the invention of radio led to television which changed how people spent their leisure time. You might also get some good input from other families who are using Core 300 this year on our Upper Level Cores forum at: https://www.sonlight-forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=79.
