Handwriting Schedules 4.6.06
Schedules for RFH & Italics can be found at the bottom of this page: http://www.sonlight.com/handwriting.html
LA K and RFH The RFW schedule jumps around to coordinate with the LA K letter of the week. Each week the kids do the coordinating lower & upper case Letter of the Week and then on review weeks they do some of the extra practice type pages.
Update 9.20.07 - RFH Workbook K schedule has been updated to remove incorrect copywork assignments. The updated pdf file will be uploaded to the site.
HWT Schedule
There is no suggested schedule for the Handwriting Without Tears materials because this program is intended to be used at the student's pace. The Printing or Cursive Teacher's Guide for this program will provide suggested activities to go with each two-page spread in the workbook. The intent is for you to have your child work on a two-page spread in the My Printing Book and then practice outside of the workbook for as many days as is necessary to be comfortable with the letter forms covered in the workbook. The ideas for what to do on the "extra practice" days include suggested words or sentences that the student can practice writing which will include the letters that have been learned and much more.
LA Copywork and Handwriting Styles
Customers are sometimes concerned that the font style used in the LAK and LA1 copywork does not match what their student is learning in their chosen handwriting program. Standard response:
Handwriting styles vary greatly from program to program, and even individual interpretation will be unique. Please allow me to make a couple of suggestions if your student is struggling with the differences between the copywork assignments and the handwriting program you have chosen. 1) Simply re-write the short copywork passage using the font style your student prefers or 2) Don't have your student trace over the letters (if they are), but rather copy them to separate paper and explain that letters are sometimes written slightly different depending on who is doing the writing. Above all, I would not expect perfection at this age, but rather encourage continued practice as the student learns to recognize various font styles.
(Additional note - not necessarily for customers ... the font we use in our copywork exercises is actually a "Sonlight Standard font" which we had designed for the purpose of lower-level lettering a number of years ago.)
