Challenging Word Problems (9.21.15)

The Challenging Word Problems for Singapore Math, have changed to the common core edition for books 3 and 4. We include a letter about common core with these items basically saying it’s mostly just a cover change and what’s inside has stayed the same. Per the publisher, there is little to no content change:

The differences are an occasional problem added or not there (less than 5% difference as a rough estimate, all the other problems are the same), more alternate solutions given for the example problems, and hints added to some problems, and no mass or capacity problems in levels 1 and 2.

Singapore Math CD's

Updated information on SM CDs 2.27.09

  • Rainbow Rock and Vroot and Vroom will work on a Vista system, but only 32-bit
  • Wiggle Woods will work on a 64-bit Vista system

If a customer complains that their Rainbow Rock or Vroot and Vroom CD will not work on their new Vista system, ask them to be sure it is a 32-bit system.

SM CD's ARE Vista compatible - as of end of June, 2007, 'with all Vista updates'

Defective SM Cd's? As far as we know the Primary Math CDs have no history of defective CDs. If CDs are defective, it would usually be a whole lot.

So a defective CD is likely to be a software or hardware problem, or they actually scratched it getting it from the jewel case to the computer. If someone emails me about problems with the CD, I tell them to make sure they have the most recent drivers for their sound cards and video cards, which they can get on the internet from the company that made the cards. I would guess someone at Sonlight would be able to tell them how to find out what sound card or video card they have from their device manager.!!!
