REMINDER: LA for 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 3rd-5th grade each includes a UNIQUE to that level spelling word list for each week. Unless someone is using the Grade 3 through 5 level with an older student (like 4th or 5th grade), there is no reason to recommend Sequential Spelling.

Spelling in K - grade 3 through 5 LA

• Grade 1 & 2 spelling is tied to Explode the Code
• Grade 3 spelling is tied to MCP C
  • Grade 2 students are working on specific phonetic/reading skills that start at a particular level of difficulty and build upwards
  • Grade 3 students review phonics from the beginning, which is incorporated in their spelling

Suggestion for struggling writer

'Write' the spelling words using Scrabble tiles.
