Font size problems on website

  1. Make certain they are running the most recent version of their browser
  2. Make certain their screen resolution is set at 1024 x 768
  3. Have them check the font size setting on their browser be sure its at the default setting.
  4. Have them dump cookies and temporary Internet files and re-boot their computer.

A temporary fix if they just need a larger font due to eyesight:

  • To increase - hold down CTRL and Shift ... then hit the + key
  • To decrease - hold down CTRL ... then hit the - key
  • if you have a wheeled mouse, you can also change the text size by holding down the CTRL key and turning the mouse wheel
  • use the IE toolbar at the top of the page and select View, Text Size and then pick a new size

Javascript Issues (8.10.07)

Our site relies on javascript to allow users to add items to their cart and place orders. As of today, if a user goes to our site without javascript enabled, there will be a notice at the top right of the page (any/every page) that will explain to them that javascript is important on our website, and gives a link to them to an FAQ page I wrote with instructions of how to enable javascript in the three main browsers. http://www.sonlight.com/faq-javascript.html

People who have Vista/ IE 7--- installs with Javascript turned off by default. Our website never has worked without Javascript turned on and most people don't mind having it turned on if they know how.

IG Organization Videos (8.8.07)

This file contains explanatory text (not word-for-word) for the IG organization videos. This has been helpful for our hearing-impaired customers. IGVideos_text.doc

Update 9.20.07 - IG Videos are now also available as streaming flash videos (for those who cannot use QuickTime).

Printing placement tests from our site (8.6.07)

Our recent web site upgrade is designed to work best with Foxfire and IE7. Some customers have experienced difficulty printing off the math placement tests from our site. This is an issue with IE6 and the layout design of our upgraded site. The solution is to upgrade to IE7.

Want to be up-to-date on website changes?

Our wonderful tech team has reconfigured the RSS updates to update when any page is changed. To use this feature, sign up for a Google account (if you don't already have one, Gmail counts) and go to http://www.google.com/reader/view/ (free online RSS reader from Goggle, if you don't already have an RSS reader). Then add this feed URL: http://www.sonlight.com/rss.xml . That's it!

New Content protection enabled functionality implemented 8.2.07

There are now “content protection” options for articles and categories. This means that we can now set a password for a page (this will be used for special occasions in emails, etc.) and (most commonly used) “customer only” content protection, where only if the user is logged-in will they be able to view the content or download attachments.

In particular, if you scroll to the bottom of this page (http://www.sonlight.com/2007-science-updates.html ), you will see that the science cut-out updates have “content protection enabled”. The content (and attachment link) is only available for users who are signed in.
