Defining the role of an SCR

It’s so much easier to accomplish a task if you know what the goal is! Your work as a Sonlight Convention Representative is a very integral part of the Marketing outreach at Sonlight. You are the first-line of representation that we have with much of the homeschool community. By displaying product and sharing your knowledge of that product, you provide a valuable tool to potential customers. Your goal should be to make yourself familiar with the new catalog, understand our product line, and share your invaluable experience with those who might be potential Sonlight customers. You are an expert on how to use Sonlight Curriculum!

To balance the role of the SCR, please remember that the SCR is not a Customer Relations Specialist. Many times potential customers will ask why a particular book has been chosen or why a specific product is designed the way it is. Others may come complaining about order woes or damaged product. The SCR’s role is to acknowledge the customer’s concern and guide the individual in the right direction for obtaining an answer. Our catalog and web site are both excellent tools for answering some of the *why* questions that individuals might ask. Articles such as Sonlight's Top 10 Goals and Why Sonlight Uses Certain Books That Some Homeschoolers Won't Touch are good resources for addressing those types of issues. You can also suggest that a disgruntled customer might wish to contact our Customer Relations Department, or even offer to take down their contact information so that CR can contact them directly.

Remember, our goal is to introduce individuals to Sonlight and to empower them to make the best decisions for their family!
