  • Week 26 - LA Activity Sheet - Activity B: Ad Copy is missing some information. Corrected instructions posted on the Curriculum Updates page. (05.14.13)
  • Week 14 - missing notes for The Kingdom Strikes Back. Pdf available on curriculum updates page. (05.02.13)

Language Arts - Language Arts G is no longer available as a separate subject. It is integrated directly into the Core G IG.

Book defects, backorders, edition changes, etc.

  • Kingfisher History Encyclopedia (#GH08) 3rd edition replaced 2nd edition. Cover is different. Content is essentially the same. Pagination has not changed. (3.29.13)
  • D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths removed and replaced with Greek Myths (#GR24)
  • Usborne Encyclopedia of World History changed to Usborne Encyclopedia 12,000 Years of World History

Usborne Encyclopedia of World History (2013)

Usborne has updated this book for us under the new title Usborne Encyclopedia 12,000 Years of World History. The revision removed the first 100 pages (evolutionary content), and updates the cover. The rest of the content has not changed.

  • UPDATE: If a customer wants to use the older edition encyclopedia with their 2013 Core G IG, there is an adjusted schedule available on the Curriculum Updates page. (8.19.13)
  • Internet Links The original title is an Internet Linked book. Our version is also internet linked. Since Usborne does not sell the 12,000 year title, it is not found on their quicklinks website. Customers can select the original title Usborne Encyclopedia of World History and find the links there. They will need to add "94" to the page numbers in their book. (9.19.14)

Beyond the Desert Gate (10.25.12)

Customers are questioning why we schedule Beyond the Desert Gate in Week 8, and Ides of April in Week 14, when Desert Gate is listed as a sequel to Ides.
Beyond the Desert Gate is a Read-Aloud (read *to* the student) and Ideas of April is a Reader (read *by* the student). Each title is correctly assigned in the appropriate time frame.
In Core G we are covering from the beginning of time to the Elizabethan Era, so the scheduled books will highlight the time era. In the Read-Alouds, we first read Golden Goblet (1486-1349 BC), then God King (701 BC), and then Beyond the Dessert Gate (70 AD). Because Read-Alouds take longer to work through, they need to cover longer sections of time.
In the Readers, students are reading a progression of titles from Mara (1458 BC), to Hittite Warrior (1200 BC), to Greek Myths (500-300 BC), to Theras and His Town (400 BC), to Archemides (287-212 BC), to Roman Ransom (52 BC), to Ides of April (62 AD).

Bible Notes for Core G (6.22.12)

In Cores F and G the IG Bible notes have separate notes for Parents and Students. This is a decision Sarita made based on the fact that there are Bible readings that children will read on their own at these two levels, as well as Bible readings the parent will read with the children. Not all the new Bible levels take this approach because not all of them have separate readings for the child, and for the parent and child to read together.
In the Core F IG we do include an assignment for Student Bible Reading on one line and Parent and Student Reading on another. This delineation was missed in the Core G IG.
So ... here is the solution that is currently underway ...
Since we need to explain to customers specifically how to use the Core G Bible program ... we will. . .

  • 1. Post a correction to the Curriculum Updates page
  • 2.Send out an email to customers who have already purchased the Core G IG
  • 3.And send out a printed letter that will be included with all new Core G packages leaving the warehouse

Here is the instruction we will be providing ...
On your weekly Schedule pages, under the Bible section, have your children read The International Children's Bible Field Guide on their own. When it's time to read the actual Bible passages in the Schedule, please read those selections aloud to your children.
There are many helpful Bible-related Notes each week after your Schedule pages. Some of these Notes are intended specifically for your children, while some are for you. These Bible Notes are marked in the Instructor's Guide as either "Parents" or "Students."

Master Cornhill - Why in Core G and not Core H? (6.27.12)

This book is set in a time period more appropriate to be covered in Core H, yet it is included in Core G. Per Sarita ... This was a choice I made. Because there were two great plagues (and this book highlights the later of the two), I felt it was close enough time-wise to carry the weight of both plagues--to give kids the sense of how life was during those experiences.
