Note to Mom or Dad
Please note that our warning notes for In Search of the Source were unintentionally left out of our 2012 Instructor’s Guide. We deeply apologize for this error and have corrected it for future printings. Please find the notes listed below.(6/2012)
pp. 79–81 (Warning!)
There are a couple of rough spots in these two pages. You will want to pre–read this section and at least be aware of the following potential difficulties.
p. 79, para 4
At fourth grade, you may prefer not having to use the term “sexual intercourse.” We suggest that you say, instead, “She wanted him to treat her as if she was his wife.” This phrase is the same one we used with our children when we described prostitutes or prostitution (as you come across it in Scripture—let alone anywhere else.)
p 79, last two paras through top of p. 80 \\
I would simply cut everything after “Everybody at the table was struck by the moral strength of Joseph” through “… But that’s the way it was there. Some places are just different.” I would then begin again with, “We translated the next section… .“
Bottom of p. 81
This section is just difficult to read. Mr. Anderson uses a lot of big words. You could just read through it. Your kids may follow the basic story line, even if they struggle a bit with those couple of paragraphs. OR, you could cut everything in the last paragraph of page 81 from the word “The” at the end of the fifth line… . In fact, you may want to go over this part of Joseph’s story in Genesis 44, and then continue from the top of page 81 in In Search of the Source.
(Added to Curriculum Updates page)(6.12.12)
