Reminder: ALL product questions MUST be referred to Sonlight [2.20.08]
A reminder to all of us who work as independent contractors for Sonlight.
We receive a great deal of "advance" information on the Marketing Forum, Wiki, and in our various tele-meetings. Sometimes it feels as though that information, or additional details, can be awfully slow in coming.
While it may sometimes seem simpler for us (as individuals) to research or go after some of those details on our own, we must *not* (ever) contact a vendor in search of that information. As independent contractors, we are *not* employees of Sonlight. Thus, any vendors with whom Sonlight works will not recognize us as having the authority to ask for any information about their products. And in fact, our calling/emailing runs the very real risk of putting the Sonlight/vendor relationship in jeopardy. If we do not identify ourselves as working for Sonlight, then we run the risk of receiving incorrect information (because a Customer Relations Dept will likely have very different information for a "customer" than a vendor will have for a "client").
If you have *_any_* questions about products ... please refer them through appropriate channels [for advisors, refer the ticket to the Facilitor; for SCC's post to the marketing forum or email the Champion]. And please keep in mind, that what you read here, *stays here* ... until product information is made public or permission is specifically granted to share the information with customers. Our ability to gain advance product information has greatly improved over the past couple of years, *please* let's not put that in jeopardy for the future.

- So you know what will happen after you refer it up -- We tell vendors up front that we will be happy to review their product, but we will only be back in touch if we’re interested in pursuing their product. Otherwise, because of the volume of products we receive to review, they will not hear from us. We send out an email with specific instructions on how to submit their product for review.
