Tech issue using Discover & Do DVDs
Some customers have experienced difficulty navigating around the D&D DVDs.
Navigation back to the Main Menu - this is an issue with the way the DVD was made. The solution is to press the "Title" (or "Return") button on your DVD remote.

Experiments don't line up with reading

Early Levels and Science Experiments 3.10.08 In the younger Science the science experiments and the weeks lessons do not match. This really isn't an "error" that needs fixing ... it is purposeful. While I understand that not everyone agrees (and yes, comments are captured) one of the main goals of our lower level Science programs is to provide students with a broad "taste" of science. Instead of focusing on one or two areas of study (i.e. Biology or Chemistry), our lower level programs cover a wide variety of topics. The experiments are designed to do the same ... allowing students to get their hands on/in to a broad spectrum of science disciplines to hopefully develop a love for investigation and experimentation.

Client quote: I also don't care whether the experiments match what we're reading--I thought I would, but I found it's actually a plus. We cover more areas of science that way, get more variety, and I feel no compulsion to complete experiments in a timely fashion. I can be as flexible as I want with experiments, including completing a chunk of them in the summer when we're not doing science reading.

Using Science worksheets

The IG team included the following notice in all LA and Science IG’s that have Activity Sheets. You do not have to do every question on the Activity Sheets. Feel free to adjust and/or omit Activities to meet the needs of your child(ren). We cover the same concepts repeatedly throughout the year (and years to come!) to enable students to learn "naturally" through repetition and practice over time.

Remember: This program is designed for you to use to meet your child(ren)’s needs. It is not meant to use you! I am hopeful that this might give our overly concerned mom’s permission to pick and choose Activities and pace the program for the benefit of their child(ren).

Production will try to keep you informed as we add other features that will better communicate with our customers through the IG (so they won’t have to call or write to you for explanations).
