Any's thoughts on this title:

Richard Maybury (author) obviously sees the world from his perspective. He emphasizes this at the beginning of the book, because he wants readers to be aware that everyone who writes has a bias. His particular bias is against the government. Most other things you are apt to read will be more pro-government.

Some folks find themselves offended at Maybury's statements, while others have found themselves intrigued and challenged to go on to do some further research. It can most definitely be frustrating not to know what is "true".

You may want to help your student realize that we live in a world of finite knowledge. It is good and healthy to develop an opinion, but also good to be willing to change with further information. There is always more to learn.

Our hope is that as students read this (and other) title(s), they will become more aware of bias in written work, and also become a better critical thinker.
