Shakespeare
The only Shakespeare play included in British Lit is Hamlet--this is a "survey" of British Lit, not a concentration on one author. But, we do include Twelfth Night and Romeo and Juliet in Core 200. Overall, I don't think that we offer a large number of plays as a genre in our literature...it is not a particularly dominant genre for general reading anyway. I would expect that the British Lit notes will include additional information on each of the authors whose works are included in the package, as it is the contributions of these authors that has led to the recognition of the development of British Literature overall. There is a visible growth when you look at the progression of the writing styles in chronological order.
For what it is worth, the Core 200 program contains a large number of books by British authors. When we studied this level, we also used a British Lit textbook to provide introduction and outline to the development of the authors and progression of their style. It helped us read the books with greater understanding of the message and accomplishment of the authors.
