Specific questions:

How long to go through the course?

It depends on how often lessons are done, how large the group is, their maturity level, etc. On average, if a moderate size group (8-16) of high school students meets once a week, it will take them about 3 months (12 weeks). That would allow for one week of going through the lesson and the following week for follow-up and delivery of speeches, etc. for each of the six lessons to total 12 weeks.

A lot of home schoolers get groups to do it together but many of them do it just with their own children and that works great too. Of course, the smaller the group, the more you can tailor it to the individuals in it. Often it will take less time with a smaller group or you will find that they are able to delve more deeply into it because there isn't as much competition in the conversation. Overall, the covering of the content will probably end up being about the same. One of the biggest differences in time will be when students give their speeches--the less students you have, the less time it will take.

This can be a mini course if you want to work on it a fair amount of time each day, though the pace may be stiff.

At the end of the course, you will find information given on how to present various types of speeches. So, this could also be used as a semester course if you want to work on a lesson every two weeks and then apply this information for the following few weeks and give speeches. So, it depends on what you want out of this course and how you want it applied as to whether it can be done in a mini-class or 18-week class.

Something that you might mention to people is that several families have done it together as a whole and it has really been neat for them.

How long to get through one lesson?

Again there are several variables...but on average, an hour to an hour and a half. This will vary depending upon how interactive the students are and how long their various speeches end up being.

How much time is expected? As far preparation, it doesn't take much time at all because the teaching is done by Dr. Myers on the tape and the facilitator simply fields questions, discussion and helps the students apply the lesson.
