Wordly Wise 3000 Book 3 has 15 lessons. Books 4-12 have 20 lessons. If someone is using a higher level than Book 3 with Core D, they can simply do 3 exercises per week rather than the 2 exercises scheduled. (09.03.14)

Wordly Wise 2nd edition scheduling issues (2.13.08)
The 2nd edition Wordly Wise products which we are now selling do not match the scheduling in our LA IGs. Because it is so late in the season, we are making the scheduling change in our 2008 LA IGs. Those customers who purchase any Wordly Wise 2nd edition products and attempt to use them with a 2007 LA IG are going to have to do some tweaking on their own.

2008 Details

4.3.08 - We will NOT be selling Wordly Wise 3000 Books K and 1 (KL101 and 1L101). These workbooks cannot be used without a very expensive Teacher's package which we are not going to sell. They will be removed from the web today and a note will be posted explaining why they're missing.

FIRST EDITION INFORMATION:

Wordly Wise 3000 Books 1–9 (Grades 4–12) This popular vocabulary series presents 3,000 words selected from literature, textbooks, and the SATs (about 300 words in each book).

Each 15-word lesson begins with an alphabetized Word List that gives pronunciations, parts of speech, and concise definitions, and uses each word in a sentence. Engaging sentences provide a mnemonic anchor for the word.

Exercises in each lesson encourage students to apply word meanings, think critically, and discover word relationships. Narratives representing a variety of content areas are featured in each lesson and allow students to experience words in context.

Sonlight carries both the workbook and the answer key as a package or the workbook or answer key can be purchased separately.

There are no schedules available for Books 8 and 9. If a customer asks for a schedule, you can suggest using one of the other book's schedule as they are all very similar. Please let Rhonda know if you receive a request for a schedule for books 8 or 9. If there are enough requests, Sonlight may consider making a schedule.

Wordly Wise A, B, C product information and schedules [6.13.06]

Each lesson in Books B and C begins with a Word List of 8-12 words, followed by clear, brief definitions and sentences that illustrate the meaning of the word in context. Although some of the words may appear familiar to students, one of the objectives of this series is to help bridge the gap between students’ thinking they know what a word means and actually being able to put the meaning into words.

Books A, B, and C often present more than one meaning of a word. Throughout the 3 books, drawings illustrate the meanings.

Following the word list definitions in Books A, B, and C are

- a true/false exercise: the answers are given in scrambled order at the bottom of the page

- a Hidden Message exercise: the students are given a definition, and they must fill in the adjacent puzzle boxes with the correct vocabulary word When completed, the puzzle contains the answer to a riddle

Book C contains an additional exercise that requires the student to rewrite a sentence using a vocabulary word in place of an underlined phrase. Each lesson concludes with a crossword puzzle. At the beginning of each book, a comprehensive, alphabetized word list indicates by lesson the location of each word.

Recommended for grades 2-4.

Answer keys are not provided through Sonlight (although the publisher EPS does carry them). These books are simple enough, parents can easily correct the work without an answer key.

3.27.07: The publisher of Wordly Wise 3000 has released a 2nd edition. We are still carrying the 1st edition. Will update the wiki if and when we switch to the 2nd edition.
