Title of AP test [7.07]

On page 117 of the (2007)catalog, we state, “One of our goals in this program is to prepare students for the Advanced Placement (AP) British Lit exam.” The problem is, the exam is actually called “English Literature.” We had a customer who is trying to sign her son up to take the British Lit exam, but could not find it. You can see here that it is indeed called “English Literature.” http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/sub_englit.html?englit .

British Literature AP? [12.06]

Our British Lit program is not part of the College Board's AP course audit. We simply state that one of our goals in this program is to prepare students for the AP exam. We have included materials and exercises that will prepare a student to take the AP test. But nowhere do we claim that our program is authorized by the College Board.

Sonlight's Survey of British Literature has been developed with an eye to preparation for taking the Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition Test, which can qualify a student for free [except for the cost of the test] college credit. This test includes 3 parts of which one part involves multiple choice questions on short reading provided in the test, and two parts consist of essays on passages provided and a topic for which the student may choose the book. By completing the Survey of British Literature, the student will understand the literary terms incorporated into the AP test and have produced 1-2 writing assignments per week on varying aspects of the study, so that composition is a more familiar task. The directed writing assignments that Sonlight includes would vary in their formats and purposes, and would be assigned according to the book that is being read at the time.
