Bible Schedule in Core 420: (05.28.14)

Robert Velarde on why Bible reading is not scheduled: Yes, this was intentional, for two reasons. First, the two Bible books scheduled involve in-depth topics directly related to understanding biblical viewpoints (Truth and Transformation and God and Politics). At this level we wanted students to interact with biblical ideas, learning how they are applied or can be applied. Second, at this age level we also thought most students would have their own approach, plan, or program in place in reference to regular Bible reading.

If this is an issue/question that comes up frequently, we can add a note of some kind to the IG, along these lines: “Note: Because of the in-depth discussion of Bible topics covered in Truth and Transformation and God and Politics, we did not include regular Bible reading in the schedule. However, students will interact with important biblical ideas by reading through the two Bible books scheduled. Students are welcome to integrate Bible reading into their regular devotional and Bible study times, but readings are not scheduled in your IG.”

How is Carson's American Government book used? (5.1.13)

The current schedule uses about 80% of the text, skipping the 100ish pages that deal with the historical background. Although interesting to read about Romans and various British intellectuals, I think it's more important to cover things like current practice in Washington. With only 18 weeks, some things are less important! (Amy)
