For 2008 the condensed version of the One Year World History In-Depth was re-labeled as Alt 7, as Sonlight did not want the Core program to appear too young. The Language Arts 6 program will coordinate with the readers in Alt 7. Here's the "reasoning" we came up with for using LA6

  • Alt 7 is sort of an interval just before high school (Core 100) ...
  • the LA for Alt 7 (LA6) provides a good introduction to Sonlight's approach to LA ... there is still enough fundamentals to give them a foundation if they don't have it
  • or to give them additional practice to make sure they haven't missed any holes
  • kids doing Alt 7 won't be doing Core 7 ... so their next most logical step would be Core 100, which has none of the LA "detail" that LA6 has
