Core Alt 7 2008

2008 Core Alt 7 Packages:

  • Core Alternate 7 (T5C4 and T6C5)

4 day Reader Option

  • We will sell and use only the 5-day Reader sets
  • We will tighten the 4 Day reader schedule where the 4 day students will read extra/beyond what the 5 day kids will do. Everyone will read all the Readers. In the Core IG they will cover all the books over 4 days that the 5-day program covers in 5 days (i.e. they will have slightly longer assignments. If there are 100 pages to read in a week the 5 day kids will average 20 pages per day M-F; the 4-day kids will need to average 25 pages per day).
  • All students will read the same books each week; the 4 day students will read the books more quickly.

2008 Core Alt 7IG errors

  • The Bible scheduled in Alt 7 was the Bible 6, instead of the correct Bible 7 program. Only 7 customers have been shipped the IG prior to catching the error; they will be sent a letter and their schedule pages (82 pages) replaced. All IG's in the warehouse will be corrected with the appropriate pages replaced. SCC/Advisor copies may have the wrong bible listed, as they were bound and shipped prior to catching the error.   • Topics & Skills List - Memory Work will not match the weekly scheduled memorization assignment. Customer should follow schedule pages and ignore T&S pages. (7.29.08)
  • Week 1 (5-day schedule) - the Reader Study Guide pages for Mara, Daughter of the Nile are incorrect. Should be pages 59-61. (6.12.08)
  • Week 1 (5-day and 4-day) Day 1 assignment for CHOW reads pg 9 in History Guide. Should read:
    • The introduction in A Child's History of the World pp. xi-xvii
    • The introduction in the History Study Guide for A Child's History of the World, pg. 15 (7.16.08)
  • Week 3 (5-day schedule) - the schedules for Hittite Warrior and The Golden Goblet are switched. In Week 4 (5-day schedule) the schedule for Golden Goblet is really The Trojan War. We will post corrected schedule pages on the update page. (4.16.08)
  • Week 18 (5-day schedule) - Usborne World History schedule is a duplicate of Week 17. Should only have an assignment for Day 4 - pg. 145 (top #1-4). Will be corrected for 2009. (2.10.09)
  • Week 20 (5-day schedule) - Duplicate assignments for CHOW in weeks 19 and 20. The week 20 assignment should be to read chapter 66. (3.20.09)
  • Week 26 (5-day schedule) - Usborne Book of World History is listed twice. The first line should be Child's History of the World (7.16.08)
  • Appendices were left out of some Core Alt 7 IGs. Can be downloaded from Curriculum Updates page. (5.28.08)
  • History Study Guide - page 101. Timeline assignment for pages 125-137 has an incorrect date. It should be January 6, 1481. (6.12.08)

Why the price jump from 2007? 3.31.08

  • Alt 7 now includes the Bible from 7 (a change from the Bible for 6 from 2007),
  • it also includes Language Arts 6 and a binder.

Why is LA 6 bundled as part of the Core Alt 7 package? (3.7.08)

Core Alt 7 has the Language Arts bundled with the Core because Sarita felt it was important to included based on the following:

  • this is a middle school product
  • from here on up the LA is included with the Core studies

Why LA6 instead of a new Language Arts for this level? (3.7.08)

This level was chosen because Sarita feels it is more appropriate for a middle schooler than the LA included in Core 7. This should enable those who are new to homeschooling to "catch up" to our level of LA before moving up to High School.
