Core 3 2008

2008 Core 3 Packages:

  • Newcomer 3 (3F3)
  • Core 3 package with Readers 3 Regular (3CR5 and 3CR4)
  • Core 3 package with Readers 3 Advanced (3CX5 and 3CX4)

4 day Reader Option

  • We will sell and use only the 5-day Reader sets
  • We will tighten the 4 Day reader schedule where the 4 day students will read extra/beyond what the 5 day kids will do. Everyone will read all the Readers. In the Core IG they will cover all the books over 4 days that the 5-day program covers in 5 days (i.e. they will have slightly longer assignments. If there are 100 pages to read in a week the 5 day kids will average 20 pages per day M-F; the 4-day kids will need to average 25 pages per day).
  • All students will read the same books each week; the 4 day students will read the books more quickly.

2008 Core 3 IG Errors:

  • Core 3 IG 4-day Booklist is incorrect for Regular and Advanced Readers. Corrected booklist has been posted on the Curriculum Updates page. (7.28.08)

  • Week 2 (4-day) A Lion to Guard Us schedule should read:
    • Day 1: chaps. 12-14
    • Day 2: chaps. 15-17
    • Day 3: chaps. 18-20

  • Week 17 (5-day) A Child's Introduction to Poetry Day 2 assignment should read pp. 48-49 (7.29.08)
  • Week 23 (4-day and 5-day) A Child's Introduction to Poetry - only assignment should be for Day 2, Emily Dickinson pp. 61-63 (7.29.08)
  • Read-Aloud Study Guide - The Witch of Blackbird Pond (chapter 2). Cultural Literacy Questions. What is the Accidence?
