- Find Mumble in your Programs list, and click to activate.
- The system will automatically run you through a sound card and headset/microphone set up. Just follow the steps provided.
- The next to pop-up will be the Mumble Server Connect window. Click on the Custom Servers tab.
- In the empty fields on the right, fill in the following:
- Label: Inquisicorp
- Address: mumble.inquisicorp.com
- Port: 64738 is already filled in for you
- Username: Type in firstname_lastname (i.e. Judy_Wnuk) - you MUST use the underscore between first and last name
- Then click on NEW.
- Next click on CONNECT.
- Once the Mumble server connects, click on the Configure option from the menu. Choose Settings. Under Transmission: drop down the Transmit menu and choose Push to Talk. Then click APPLY.
- Leaving the Mumble Configuration window open, click on Shortcuts from the menu on the left. In the Shortcut field for Push-to-Talk, type in a letter on your keyboard. Keep in mind this will be the key you need to hold down when you talk in Mumble. (note … when you type in your push-to-talk key, the software will automatically put a K in front of it. So it might look like this if you choose the letter J … K:J). Click APPLY and then click OK.
- Now you can both hear and talk in Mumble.
- There are further adjustments you can make. The Audio menu will allow you to mute self or deafen self, which is not necessary if you’re using push-to-talk. You can also turn off the Mumble “voice” by unchecking Text-to-Speech. Please note … if you are using push-to-talk, you are automatically muted when you are *not* pushing your push-to-talk key.
- Mumble also has a PM function. If you right click on the username of someone who is in Mumble … then click on Send Message … a message text box will open. This will allow you to send a *Private* message that no one else can read or hear.
MAC INSTALLATION

Tech info:
“Mumble is currently not officially supported on Mac OS X, however it compiles and runs. The OS X builds are not bug-free and not feature complete, but you can feel free to try them out and report bugs and problems…. ….It [the binary] is self contained - so just open the .dmg, drag the app to the programs folder and start it. No need to install QT or Portaudio. I built on 10.0.4 so it will work there; 10.0.5 is untested as I don't own it (yet). PPC is also untested, but should work as a previous build worked just fine. The Mac port currently does not support Overlay or Hotkeys.”
