Homeschooling is legal in all states. However, each states decrees what is acceptable and how to oversee. We are not accredited, as we seek to ensure all customers do know that they are the responsible party to determine if they are meeting legal matters.

Our best statement is the following: (from http://www.sonlight.com/guarantee.html)

  • (Sonlight) strongly urges our customers to invest the time necessary to become familiar with the controlling laws concerning home education in their community. Information on this subject can be found on the web at http://www.hslda.org/ and also by contacting your local homeschool support group. Don't know how to find a good group? Check out http://www.nhen.org/.

At the present, we do not advocate HSLDA, not do we really advocate others. Still, we do reference them occasionally as a resource, as we do NHEN and local homeschool groups, etc.

We still support the discount that HSLDA offers, i.e., we have a code that customers can share with HSLDA to get a reduced membership. We do not advertise this or make it a key aspect of anything, we just permit it.

We have agreed to leave HSLDA alone and not uniquely advocate for their services in any way. We are not hostile to them, on the other hand. It may be best to say we have an attitude of benign neglect.

By the way, we do not want to just send people to HSLDA for legal matters. We can note they can help, but they may also seek help from local groups, and NHEN is helpful to find local groups.
