When I am displaying the materials at a booth in a state that I know does not accept home-taught driver ed, I still pitch the driving portion of the program. Most Driver Ed courses only include a small number of hours of road time with an instructor. This really isn't enough time to ensure that the student has developed good driving habits. In fact, in LA a student can get a Learner's Permit after Driver Ed, but cannot get the full license until at least 3 months after the Permit was issued. I encourage parents to consider using the driving portion of the program during that Permit practice time. The program introduces many good concepts for both parent and student driver that the parent may not think to teach the student. Use of this program also helps to ensure that the parent is guiding the student in a complete range of practice sessions.
