Some of the titles in Sonlight's Core programs are available at the library and some people do find that it works to order the Instructor's Guides from Sonlight and use library books, rather than purchasing the complete package.

However, there are several disadvantages to doing it that way. Often, families find that the books they need are not available from the library just when they need them, so they have to modify the schedule while they wait on a particular title. Also, some books are used for longer than 3 weeks (a typical check-out period from the library). And, then, some titles have more than one edition with different page numbers, so it is possible that a library edition would not match your Sonlight Instructor's Guide, which will require more of your time to modify the materials for your use.

It is usually just more convenient to purchase all the books from Sonlight. By purchasing a complete package you are enrolled in the Sonlighter's Club which entitles you to 10% off all of your purchases for one year. Also, some families who don't care to build a home library can sell their books at the end of the year for a good percentage of what they paid for them.

If you do decide to use the library, I would encourage you to check to see which titles are available from the library, and which would only be available from Sonlight, so you'll know which ones you need to order before you start.
