Sandy Hotz shared this Commission Comparison template with us. She uses it to track and evaluate the results of her events by examining New and Residual Sales/Commissions by individual event in total or by quarterly report.

Starting with your quarterly commission statement, you will follow the instructions on the Commission Statement Sample to separate and total your Sales/Commissions by event. Then this information will be transferred to the Commission Compilation Template as follows:

Label each section (lines 3, 9, 15, 21, etc.) in column A in the template with your personal code and each event code. If you need additional sections to accommodate more than 4 event codes you will need to add sections to the template. Click on line 15 in the template, and then move your cursor up to click Insert in the toolbar and Row six times (adding 6 more lines in your template). Now move down to click on line 21 and, holding the button down, slide your mouse down to highlight lines 21 to 26. Right-click your mouse and click Copy, then move the cursor up to cell 15A (the beginning of the blank section you added) and right-click your mouse and click Paste to copy the new section in. Repeat this process until you have enough sections in your template to accommodate all your event codes.

Starting with the commission statement for the period ending March 31, 2007, transfer the sum values for New Customer Sales to the cell in column C (2007 Sales) corresponding with the line marked "3/31" for each event on the Commission Comparison Template, then do the same for New Customer Commissions in column I (2007 Commissions). Once this is completed for all events on the statement, look at the bottom of the Excel screen for the sheet tabs. The one you are currently working on is labeled "New" and next to it is one labeled "Residual". Click on Residual to switch worksheets and repeat the same process to transfer the Sales and Commission totals for Residual customers adding additional event sections as you did on the "New" worksheet, if necessary.

Once you have finished transferring totals from the 3/31/07 Commission Statement, you can double-check your work by looking at the bottom of the "New" and "Residual" sheets to verify that the sheet totals agree with your Commission Statement. The Template is designed to automatically tally all the lines that correspond with each statement. You can then repeat the same process for the 6/30 and 9/30 statements, as well as the 12/31 statement you receive this month. As 2008 progresses, you would add the information from each statement onto the appropriate lines in columns E and K, which will enable you to begin comparing the results.
