Packing Slip details

On the packing list there is an indication of when backorders are expected (one * means 30 to 60 days, two ** means over 60 days, no * means under 30 days).

However, this information is NOT accurate prior to today. If customers question the accuracy of the backorder information, send them to the backorder chart on the website, as it is up-to-date.

The box which contains the packing list is stamped to indicate this on the outside. The current packing list includes cost per book to act as an invoice for the customer.

What is included with the packing slip has changed

Starting 8/1/03, Sonlight will no longer include the yellow card in shipments. This yellow card asked customers to review their packing slips & let us know of any damaged or missing items by mailing the card to us. We are also no longer including the yellow return form.

In their place, the return instructions and polices are now on the back of the packing slip (there is no longer a form to fill out). Also, there is a note on the back of the packing slip (in the upper, right hand side) in which we ask clients to let us know by email or phone if anything is damaged or missing.

Where is my invoice/packing slip?

The packing slip is included inside one box. The boxes are labelled on the outside with the number of boxes and details on which box contains the packing slip.

INVOICE -- Invoices are no longer sent to customers. Upon request CR can issue an invoice.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: the packing slip with invoice information is on the outside of the box for customs purposes.

APO addresses

APO addresses are considered US territories. The US postal service delivers to these areas. So, as the customer fills out her address form, the city would be APO, the state would be AE, and the country would be USA. This customer would fill out the "domestic" address, not the international. She could then choose standard shipping (first class US Postal) or FedEx/UPS shipping (which is an additional cost, but traceable & insurable).

APO/FPO Shipping

  1. If you ship to my APO/FPO via SL standard shipping, is it reliable? Is it insured, traceable? Yes, we have found APO/FPO shipments are quite reliable.
  2. Is there any insurance? We self insure.
  3. Is there any trace ability? No.

Shipping Status statement

You may expect (though not guaranteed) to receive your ONLINE order within 5-7 business days from the time you place it if the order is shipped to an address within the 48 contiguous United States.

If you placed your order by mail or fax, you may expect to receive it within 5-10 business days from the time we receive it as these orders require more processing time.

International orders usually arrive within 2 weeks to 6 months, depending on the shipment method and individual country's custom/duty policies.

You may find additional and international shipping information at our shipping policies page.

Can I request a different/faster shipping method?

If the customer requests a different method than what we consider our standard method (Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS, standard delivery times), then they will pay extra for shipping and handling. We can give estimates for these costs based on order amount, ship to location, etc. The order MUST specifically give Sonlight permission to charge the actual shipping charges if the customer requests faster delivery (i.e. 2 day, next day, etc.)

Can I ship science supply kits overseas?

To some countries, yes. We encourage you to contact customs in your country for information. [Advisor -- also refer to customer service for suggestions/recommendations based on Sonlight's prior dealings with the country.]
