Shopping Cart Update - backordered items
(11.20.07) Shopping cart has been updated to show backordered items within a package. These b/o items are identified by a red font for the b/o item number as well as a note stating: Backordered item(s) within this package. One glitch with this new upgrade - the "dummy" IG item numbers (which provide repurchase discount qualification) will always show up as being backordered, because there is no actual stock for this item number in Assist. Until we can remedy this glitch, please explain to customers that this does not mean that the IG they ordered is on backorder.
SCOPS says item 'cannot be ordered separately'
When a product goes out of stock, we first check the "exclude" flag to prevent the product from being ordered separately. This is what creates the message "This product cannot be ordered separately."
Because imports take so long, sometimes the product can hang out on the site for a while even though we're in the process of removing it from the site entirely.
It would be nice to have two different flags with two different messages (so we could say, "This product is no longer available"), but our current technology limits us. Definitely something to look for in future content management technology we might use.
Online ordering difficulties
- Getting the "invalid item message": try placing a direct order because instead of going from left to right, they go from top to bottom, filling in each column before going to the next column.
- If a client is having trouble ordering online, refer the ticket to the SCA Facilitator. Also suggest they can email, fax, or mail in the order.
- If the client wants something confirming the order was received they need to ask for it in the manual order. All online orders are automatically confirmed.
- If a client is having difficulty signing in [to SCOPS ONLY], they need to try using all caps (password and email address).
SCOPS -- how long will things stay in my shopping cart?
- If you put things into your cart, but never sign into SCOPS, then those will not be saved at all.
- If you put things into your cart, and then you sign into SCOPS, all of those things will be added to your cart. Whatever you had in your cart before will still be there too.
- If you sign into SCOPS and put things into your cart, then they will be saved permanently.
- The system will NOT be purged when the new items are added in April (for the new catalog year). If anything in your shopping cart is no longer sold, or changes in price, etc, we will update your shopping cart. -- i.e. anything we no longer sell will be deleted from the cart, price changes will be shown in cart.
