Time Payment Plans Update (2013)

Beginning 2/1/13 ...

  • 9-month plan available through April
  • 6-month plan available through June
  • 3-month plan still available year round

Electronic Checks

Electronic checks can take 48-72 hours to clear. Also, Sonlight runs them through in batches, so if one account in the batch doesn't clear it holds up the whole batch! And of course, that delays the order getting shipped.

Each order with an e-check is held for 3 business days before it is processed. This is just for e-checks...if someone mails in a check with their order, we do not hold it for 3 days.

The advantage to using an electronic check over a debit card is that your account gets charged for the full amount, back-orders and all, at one time. You don't have one amount go through for the items that shipped, and then weeks or months later (when you've forgotten about it), have another amount go through and possibly bounce a check! This would only be an issue for folks who don't use credit cards, but run their checking accounts pretty close! To utilize the online check option the funds must be drawn from a US bank.

Time Payments

Here are just a few of the benefits of the new Time Payment option:

  • You can order the materials you want without worrying about the up-front expenses.
  • You will have cash or available credit on your card for other necessities.
  • When you order the products you need, you will be prompted at check-out if your order is eligible for Time Payment.

And it’s so easy to take advantage of! Here’s how it works:

  • Place an order of $500 or more.
  • After credit approval, pay 1/3 of the total -- which includes any shipping fees (foreign orders), taxes (Colorado residents), and a small handling fee*.
  • Then, once a month for the next six months, we’ll charge the balance to your credit card.

Credit Card Options

Discover Card -- Unfortunately, because we are not a school AND we are direct marketers (i.e. we take web, email and mail orders where we don't physically handle the credit card), we cannot qualify for "Curriculum Sales" or other special code with the Discover Card

Credit/debit card limit If the customer has a daily limit on their debit/credit card, have them place the order normally. Then in the first comment section put a note about the credit limit. The order will be rejected by the credit card (if it is over limit), but SL personnel will read the comment section then process the order. The first day they will bill up to the credit limit, then the next day they will bill the remainder.

Ordering using Paypal: You can order only if you have your credit card registered in your PayPal account. You can have a regular PayPal account by giving PayPal only your Bank account information. You can only receive the virtual MasterCard Credit Card if you give PayPal information about your Bank account and a Credit Card you own.

Here is the process:

  1. Log into your PayPal account.
  2. On the top tabs there is one titled "Shop". Click on that one.
  3. On the right side is a blue border area. Towards the middle is one titled "Shop Anywhere". Click on this one, then read the instructions for using the virtual credit card.
