Some Basic Tips

  • Include a picture with every post.
  • Keep the text to 300 to 500 words or less.
  • Post frequently, say 3-7 times a week.
  • Visit other blogs and leave comments.
  • If someone leaves a comment on your blog, return the favor.
  • If someone follows your blog, return the favor.
  • Use a different template than those that are offered with Blogger. Having an unmodified Blogger template pretty much brands you as a newbie.

Free Blog Counters

Adding Blog Counters

Locate a freebie blog counter site (such as the one linked above). Many of them offer a variety of counter "styles". Choose the one you like best and find the html code for the counter. It will be an <a href code. Copy the code. Head over to the layout page for your blog. After you decide *where* you want your counter (i.e. which sidebar), then choose the HTML/Javascript gadget. Type in whatever title you'd like on your counter (i.e. ''Visitors Since 10.10.09). Then paste the html code into the content box of the gadget. Click SAVE.
