  • CorePlus packages will no longer exist
  • The title Grade will not be used for any package or product.
  • The title Level will not be used for any package or product.
  • The term Recommended will be changed to Usually used by (to indicated the target age/reading ability/grade). Example ... Core K is usually used by grades K-2. This empowers the customer to make their decision based on this information, without our making a specific recommendation.
  • The title Core will continue to be used as in the past. Three Cores have been re-named:
    • Core A will now be called Core P 3/4 meaning Preschool for 3-4 year olds.
    • Core B will now be called Core P4/5 meaning Preschool for 4-5 year olds.
    • Core C will now be called Core K meaning Kindergarten.
    • Cores 1 through 530 will remain the same.
  • All numeric designations will come after the subject (subject first, number last). Example ... Core 5, Language Arts 3, Readers 3, Science 2, etc...
  • Reader packages will be as follows:
    • Readers K usually used by early elementary students with an average Kindergarten reading capability (students are not yet familiar with letters and sounds).
    • Readers 1 usually used by early elementary students with an average Grade 1 reading capability (students know basic letter sounds and are ready to learn to decode three-letter short-vowel words).
    • Readers 2 usually used by early elementary students with an average Grade 2 reading capability (students read long-vowel, 5- and 6-letter words with moderate fluency. They benefit from extra white space between sentences and fewer words on a page in books with short chapters; relatively numerous illustrations; an easy-to-hold size).
    • Readers 2 Intermediate usually used by early elementary students who need more reading practice before moving on to more difficult books (students read long-vowel, 5- and 6-letter words fluently, but benefit from relatively shorter chapters, more illustrations, and somewhat controlled vocabulary).
    • Readers 2 Advanced usually used by early elementary students with a Grade 3 through 5 reading capability ("gentle" readers for students who are able to read pretty much anything you might think of handing them but you want to protect them from the grittier "realities of life" that more advanced books often deal with).
  • Catalog will be formatted in two sections ... the front section for Newcomers and the back section for Veterans.
